Diversion goes by many names ACD. Deferral. alternative sentencing and more. They are all basically the same but many vary to some degree by County. In short they work like a guilty verdict with fines, community service probation etc. However once you complete probation and/or program requirements your case is "dismissed" this means no conviction on your record. If asked about any criminal convictions you can safely say no! Now if you have any kind of criminal past its unlikely you can qualify for such a program. Its basically for 1st time offender who may have just made a bad choice. As stated these programs and their requirements can vary by county or may not be available everywhere so ask your Attorney
